September 11, 2001, American Jack Ryan decides to interrupt his studies at the London School of Economics to enlist in the Marines. Two years later, the young patriot back seriously injured from a mission in Afghanistan. He was treated by the student Cathy Muller medicine, with a mixture of compassion and firmness, manages to recover. The young man was recruited by the CIA officer Harper, who persuades him to finish his studies in London to become a financial analyst for the agency. In 2013, Jack lives in a relationship with Cathy, who knows nothing of its activities, its coverage as an analyst for a Wall Street firm enough to deceive. When in the wake of a standoff between the United States and Russia about a pipeline in Turkey, the young agent discovers a bank in Moscow, headed by Viktor Cherevin powerful, plotting to destroy the system U.S. economy through a terrorist attack, was sent there for his first field mission, under the supervision of Harper. But soon after, Cathy, wrongly suspecting infidelity, joins him ...
Without revolutionizing the genre, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is conducted effectively by Kenneth Branagh whose realization is not in my face, but tent, like the main character, being down to earth and realistic. The action scenes are thrilling, but they are "of this world" and have a good balance with these nice moments when the characters are revealed. Finally, a feature film that "does the job." And could well be the beginning of a second franchise for Chris Pine.
