How to remove bedbugs

Battling Bedbugs: Your Friendly Guide to Effective Removal

Discovering bedbugs in your home can be a nightmare, but fear not – you're not alone in this battle. With the right strategies, you can bid these unwanted guests farewell. Let's embark on a human-friendly journey to reclaim your space from these nocturnal nuisances.

Identifying the Enemy: Know Thy Foe

Before launching into battle, it's crucial to know your adversary. Bedbugs are small, reddish-brown insects that feast on blood, typically at night while you're peacefully asleep. They hide in cracks, crevices, and mattress seams during the day. Identifying these tiny troublemakers is the first step towards effective removal.

Declutter and Deep Clean: Clearing the Battlefield

Bedbugs thrive in clutter, making it essential to declutter your living space. Start by removing unnecessary items, especially from areas where bedbugs commonly hide. Once decluttered, engage in a thorough deep clean – vacuum carpets, wash bedding, and scrub nooks and crannies where bedbugs might be lurking.

Heat and Freeze: Extreme Temperature Tactics

Bedbugs can't withstand extreme temperatures, so use this to your advantage. Wash and dry your bedding on high heat, exposing these pests to temperatures they can't endure. Alternatively, items that can't be laundered may be sealed in plastic bags and placed in the freezer to eliminate bedbugs and their eggs.

Steam Clean: Vaporize the Vermin

Steam cleaning is a bedbug's worst nightmare. The high temperatures produced by steam cleaners penetrate furniture, mattresses, and carpets, effectively killing bedbugs at all life stages. Be thorough in your approach, focusing on areas where bedbugs are likely to hide.

Natural Remedies: Mother Nature's Arsenal

For those who prefer a more natural approach, there are several remedies that may help repel bedbugs. Essential oils like tea tree oil, lavender, and peppermint are known for their insect-repelling properties. Mix a few drops with water and spray the solution in infested areas. While not a cure-all, natural remedies can be a helpful component of your bedbug removal plan.

Seek Professional Help: The Calvary of Exterminators

If the infestation persists or is particularly severe, it may be time to call in the professionals. Exterminators are equipped with the knowledge and tools to tackle bedbug infestations effectively. They can provide a targeted approach, ensuring that these pests are eradicated from every nook and cranny.

Conclusion:

Battling bedbugs requires a combination of persistence, cleanliness, and strategic warfare. By identifying, decluttering, and employing a variety of removal techniques, you can take back control of your living space and restore peace to your nights. Remember, you're not alone in this fight – with determination and the right tactics, you can bid farewell to bedbugs and enjoy a bug-free home once again. Sweet dreams await!

How to remove cigarette smell from house

A Comprehensive Guide on How to remove cigarette smell from house

Introduction:

The lingering odor of cigarette smoke can be a persistent and unwelcome presence in homes, cars, and clothing. Whether you're a former smoker or you've acquired items from a smoking environment, the challenge of eliminating that distinct scent is a common concern. Fear not! This guide will take you through effective and unique methods to clear the air and banish the cigarette smell from your surroundings.

Ventilation Magic: Let Fresh Air In

The simplest method often yields significant results. Open windows and doors to allow fresh air to circulate through the space. Create cross-ventilation by strategically placing fans to usher out stale air and bring in the outdoors. This initial step is vital in diluting and replacing the lingering smoke particles.

Natural Deodorizers: Harness the Power of Nature

Nature provides some excellent allies in the battle against stubborn odors. Place bowls of white vinegar, baking soda, or activated charcoal in affected areas. These natural deodorizers absorb and neutralize odors without introducing harsh chemicals. Leave them overnight or for a few days for optimal results.

Citrus Zest: A Burst of Freshness

Citrus fruits, with their vibrant scents, can work wonders in eliminating cigarette odors. Create a DIY citrus spray by simmering orange or lemon peels in water on the stove. Alternatively, place bowls of citrus-scented potpourri around the space for a refreshing aroma.

Coffee Grounds: Aromatic Absorption

Coffee grounds, known for their ability to absorb and neutralize odors, can be a surprisingly effective tool. Fill bowls with fresh coffee grounds and place them strategically in the room or car. The coffee will absorb the unpleasant scent, leaving behind a subtle coffee aroma.

Activated Charcoal: Odor Eliminator Extraordinaire

Activated charcoal is a powerhouse when it comes to neutralizing odors. Place small bags of activated charcoal in closets, drawers, or any enclosed space that needs freshening. The porous structure of charcoal traps and absorbs unwanted smells, leaving your space smelling clean and neutral.

Deep Cleaning: Tackling Smoke Residue

Cigarette smoke leaves behind not only a scent but also a residue that can cling to surfaces. Deep cleaning is essential in removing this residue. Scrub walls, ceilings, and hard surfaces with a mixture of vinegar and water or an all-purpose cleaner. Wash curtains, upholstery, and clothing to ensure a thorough cleanse.

Air Purifiers: Modern Filtration Technology

Investing in a quality air purifier with a HEPA filter can significantly improve air quality. These devices effectively capture and eliminate airborne particles, including those responsible for cigarette odors. Place them strategically in areas prone to smoke exposure for continuous purification.

Conclusion:

Banishing cigarette smell requires a multi-faceted approach that combines ventilation, natural deodorizers, and deep cleaning. By incorporating these unique methods into your odor-fighting arsenal, you can reclaim your living spaces from the lingering effects of cigarette smoke. Remember, patience and persistence are key as you embark on this journey to breathe in the freshness of a smoke-free environment.

What foods are good for constipation

Are you having difficulty having a bowel movement? You probably suffer from constipation. Fortunately, certain foods help facilitate intestinal transit.

What to eat when you suffer from constipation?

Research suggests that eating a diet rich in fiber is essential for healthy transit. Fiber helps reduce the risk of intestinal cancer and heart disease, but also prevents and fights against constipation : it compacts our stools , thus increasing their size, and making them softer. Well-formed and relatively soft stools pass better through the digestive system and are expelled more easily, which helps to balance transit.

Fiber is found mainly in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dried fruits, and seeds. If you have the impression that you are not consuming enough, try to increase your fiber intake gradually: in fact, like any sudden change in diet, consuming large quantities of fiber too suddenly can cause digestive problems such as such as bloating, flatulence or diarrhea.

In addition to increasing your fiber intake, also make sure to:

  • Hydrate well;
  • Avoid consuming foods that are difficult to digest;
  • Practicing physical activity;
  • Move more every day.

By following these tips, you should be able to combat constipation.

Foods to eat in case of constipation

Dietary fiber

Dietary fiber accelerates intestinal transit and thus helps fight constipation. Since the digestive system cannot digest or fully absorb dietary fiber, in order to evacuate them, the intestines must make a special effort. In the digestive tract, dietary fiber swells with water, causing the feeling of satiety to appear more quickly and promoting the agglomeration of stools. It is both this ability to retain water in the stools and the contractions of the intestinal wall caused by the presence of fibers which facilitate transit.

Dietary fiber is found in seeds, whole grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits. There are two types: soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. It is the latter which binds water in the digestive tract and promotes the elimination of stools.

Here are some examples of foods that are sources of fiber:

  • Cereals: whole wheat, rye, oats, barley, buckwheat, bulgur, corn, spelt;
  • Vegetables: carrot, zucchini, squash, asparagus, potato (preferably eaten without the skin), sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, peas, spinach, turnip, beans;
  • Fruits: orange, grapefruit, peach, nectarine, pear, apple, papaya, dried fruits (prunes, figs, dates).

The benefits of prune

Prune is the dried fruit of a type of plum tree. It has long been recognized for its benefits for transit: it is a fruit with a moderate glycemic index but very rich in soluble and insoluble fiber. It therefore promotes the appearance of the feeling of satiety as well as transit.

Whole grain products

A cereal is complete when the three main elements that compose it have been preserved:

  • the  bran,  rich in fiber;
  • the germ, containing the nutrients;
  • the seed, containing carbohydrates and proteins.

A cereal is refined when the bran and germ are removed to leave only the body, which depletes it in fiber and nutrients while retaining its high glycemic index.

Whole grains are therefore also a source of fiber and contribute to the smooth running of our intestinal transit.

Here are some examples of whole grain products: bread, rusks or pasta made from whole grain flour, whole grain rice, corn, whole grain semolina, bulgur, barley, oats, rye, which can be combine certain plants considered “pseudo-cereals” such as buckwheat, quinoa or even flax.

Foods to avoid when you are constipated

Refined grain products

Refined grain products are made from so-called “white” flour, as opposed to wholemeal flour. This type of flour contains only the grain of the cereal, so it is rich in carbohydrates but low in nutrients and fiber. Consumed in large quantities, cereal products made from refined flour can promote weight gain and slow down intestinal transit. They also increase blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), which can increase the risk of diabetes.

Meat

Meat, whether red, white, fatty or lean, contains very little fiber, and is therefore not recommended to combat constipation. Red meat should be particularly avoided since it greatly slows down transit. It is to compensate for this lack of fiber that it is recommended to accompany it with vegetables if you wish to eat them. If you want or need to eat meat, for example for its protein content, prefer lean meat such as poultry, but be careful not to eat its skin.

Fatty substances

Essential to the proper functioning of the body, fats should nevertheless be consumed in moderation and avoiding certain cooking methods if we can preserve their transit. Butter and oils of vegetable origin (olive, rapeseed, nuts, etc.) can be used in cooking or seasonings: they are a source of lipids and serve as a natural lubricant for our intestines. So-called “trans”, “saturated” and “partially hydrogenated” fatty acids (statements on packaging) should, however, be avoided when you are constipated: they are found, for example, in prepared meals, pastries or fried foods.

Foods that are too salty

Just like fats, salt is also necessary for the human body and must be part of our daily nutritional intake. Be careful, however, not to overdo it: excessive salt consumption can cause water to persist in the body that should be evacuated, including in the stools, this is called water retention. To give more flavor to your preparations, you can replace the salt with certain spices or aromatic herbs.

What to do in addition to this anti-constipation diet?

Do not overuse laxatives

After a medical examination, a doctor can prescribe treatment tailored to your needs based on your constipation. In addition to the health and diet rules to adopt, this treatment may include laxatives. However, it is important not to overdo it, and to avoid too aggressive laxatives: we prefer so-called “mucilaginous” laxatives which swell and take on a viscous consistency on contact with water, thus acting like insoluble fibers and promoting the agglomeration and elimination of stools. There are many types of laxatives; some can be aggressive for the digestive system, it is always preferable to follow the hygienic and dietary advice and consult a doctor if your constipation does not disappear on its own.

Reduce your alcohol and tobacco consumption

Dehydration is a triggering or aggravating factor for constipation, so it should be avoided as much as possible. Due to its diuretic properties, alcohol disrupts intestinal transit. Indeed, alcohol consumption does not meet our hydration needs, and tends to dehydrate us since it increases the quantity of fluids lost in our urine. Tobacco can also worsen constipation in the long term: it affects microcirculation and reduces the supply of nutrients and water to the blood. It is recommended not to smoke and to reduce your alcohol consumption to 1 glass per day.

Hydrate well

Staying well hydrated helps restore intestinal transit. Drinking water is therefore particularly recommended in cases of constipation: water complements the effect of fiber on digestion and hydrates the stools, which facilitates their elimination. During episodes of constipation, a health professional can advise you to drink mineral water rich in magnesium: this trace element is known for its laxative effect. Fresh fruit juices can also help improve transit. Apple, grape or citrus juice is particularly recommended in cases of constipation. The ideal is not to add sugar to your drink.

How can I prevent constipation?

The good news is that most often, small changes in habits can reduce the risk of constipation:

  • Try to get 30g of fiber per day by eating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Prefer apricots, apples, plums, prunes and grapes: they naturally contain sorbitol, a sugar with a mild laxative effect.
  • Drink plenty of fluids (around 8-10 glasses per day), preferably water, to avoid dehydration.
  • Try to go to the bathroom at the same time every morning and allow plenty of time to have a bowel movement.
  • Try to get at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week, such as walking, running, cycling or swimming.
  • Change your position in the toilet and try putting your feet on a small step stool. This is a simple way to make passing stools easier.
  • Try relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises or meditation if you feel psychological factors are causing your constipation.

How Do People Get Bedbugs?

Imagine you're peacefully sleeping, only to wake up with itchy, red bites on your skin. The culprit? Bedbugs! These tiny, nocturnal pests have become infamous for turning our beds into their midnight feasts. But have you ever wondered how these uninvited guests make their way into our homes? Let's dive into the intriguing world of bedbug hitchhikers.

Travel Troubles: Bedbugs on the Move

One of the most common ways bedbugs end up in our homes is through travel. These sneaky creatures are excellent hitchhikers and can catch a ride on your luggage, clothing, or even in the seams of your backpack. Staying in hotels, hostels, or using public transportation increases the risk of picking up these tiny stowaways.

Secondhand Surprises: Thrift Store Treasures

Thrifting is a fantastic way to find unique items, but it comes with a hidden risk—bedbugs might be tagging along for the ride. Furniture, clothing, or even books from secondhand stores or garage sales can carry these pests into your home. It's like an unwanted bonus with your bargain find.

Neighborhood Hopping: Bedbugs on the Move

Bedbugs are not exclusive to any particular neighborhood. They are equal opportunity invaders, spreading from one home to another. If your neighbor happens to have an infestation and doesn't address it promptly, these little intruders might decide to make your place their new residence. Close proximity makes it easy for them to migrate from one home to the next.

Workplace Woes: Commuting Critters

Believe it or not, bedbugs can also hitch a ride with you from your workplace. These pests are not limited to residential spaces. If your workplace has a bedbug issue, it's possible for them to hop onto your belongings and make the journey home with you. It's like an unexpected commuter sharing your daily route.

Socializing Setbacks: Bedbugs at Gatherings

Bedbugs are not just stealthy travelers; they're also social butterflies (of the unwanted kind). Attending social gatherings, parties, or events where people gather in close proximity can provide bedbugs with the perfect opportunity to jump from one person to another. Shared spaces, such as theaters or communal seating areas, can be hotspots for bedbug exchanges.

Conclusion:

While bedbugs may be elusive, understanding their modes of transportation can help us be more vigilant in preventing their unwelcome presence. Regularly inspecting luggage after travel, being cautious with secondhand items, and staying informed about potential infestations in your neighborhood are key strategies to keep these pesky critters at bay.

Remember, the battle against bedbugs is not just about getting rid of them; it's also about preventing them from entering our homes in the first place. By staying informed and adopting proactive measures, you can significantly reduce the chances of sharing your space with these nocturnal nuisances. Sweet dreams without bedbugs await!

3 Immunity Supplements You Should Avoid, Nutritionists Advise

When it comes to food supplements, there is something to eat and drink! If you're hoping to improve your immunity, be aware that there are certain supplements to avoid, nutritionists warn. Find out which ones and why.

Food supplements may be indicated in cases of nutritional deficiency, reduced immunity, fatigue, hair loss. It can also be a way to boost brain functions, improve the appearance of the skin or even relieve the digestive system.

Food supplements do not exempt you from having a balanced diet. Nutrients are found above all on our plates.

With the arrival of winter, many of you resort to food supplements to boost the immune system and escape viruses.

American nutritionists warn us about certain food supplements through an interview given to our colleagues at Eating Well . They remind us that supplements should always complement a healthy diet . A balanced diet will provide you with the vitamins and minerals needed to support the immune system .

A healthy lifestyle is essential to support the immune system

If your immune system is healthy, it will be easier to fight viruses , bacteria or other disruptive elements ,” explains Chelsea LeBlanc, RDN, LD, a registered dietitian based in Nashville, Tennessee (USA).

However, if you have a poor lifestyle, your immune system risks being compromised. And he will no longer be able to offer you protection. “  Your immune system is involved in more areas than you realize, far beyond just protecting against illnesses like colds, flu and viruses  ,” explains Bonnie Taub-Dix, RDN, registered dietitian. and author of Read It Before You Eat It . “ A healthy immune system can also help you recover from illness more quickly and reduce inflammation . Your immune system is also thought to play a role in longevity and disease prevention  ”?

Eating a healthy diet , getting enough sleep, combating stress, and exercising regularly are the main ways you can help support your immune health. American dietitians also draw our attention to 3 supplements that you should not take if you want to maintain good immunity.

Beware of oregano oil

Be careful with oregano oil. It is extracted from the leaves of oregano and is available in liquid or capsule form. Oregano oil has been used medicinally for years to treat countless illnesses. It is also used as a natural food preservative due to its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, according to a 2019 study in the International Journal of Nutrition.

However, human trials are lacking to determine whether it is actually effective in supporting immunity. A 2020 meta-analysis published in Phytotherapy Research examining primarily animal studies showed that oregano oil effectively reduced certain inflammatory markers. However, other research, such as a 2020 study in the Journal of Virology, showed no effect against the flu. Stick to sprinkling the dried or fresh herb on your food rather than taking a supplement.

Colloidal silver may interact with certain medications

Colloidal silver is composed of silver particles, touted as a panacea against infections and wounds. However, health experts and the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health warn: “ There are many false claims about the health benefits of taking colloidal silver, particularly its antimicrobial properties. There is insufficient evidence to support these claims  .”

The FDA warns that colloidal silver can be dangerous and has not been proven effective. “  I don't recommend anyone taking colloidal silver because it can be harmful in high doses and interact negatively with many medications  ,” says Kristen Carli, MS, RD, also a registered dietitian.

Echinacea, potentially harmful in cases of autoimmune diseases

Echinacea is a popular ingredient in cold and flu products. Echinacea is available in almost all forms: syrup, powder, throat lozenge, tea bag, capsule and gum.

Echinacea comes from a plant and is known for its infection-fighting powers. Some people rely on echinacea, but studies have shown mixed results on whether it can be trusted. Additionally, echinacea may interfere with certain health conditions such as autoimmune diseases.

A 2019 meta-analysis of 29 studies published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine found no significant benefit when echinacea was used to prevent or treat upper respiratory infections.

Focus on the right foods

Instead of relying on supplements when winter comes, focus on nutrient-dense foods . Focus on vitamins C and D, products rich in zinc and antioxidants that act as front-line defenders and help your body fight disease. Most vitamin C is found in oranges, grapefruit, kiwis, strawberries, peppers and broccoli. Vitamin D is hidden in foods such as salmon, eggs, yogurt and milk. As for lentils, chickpeas and cashews, they are good sources of zinc.

“ You can never go wrong with adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet ,” adds Bonnie Taub-Dix.

Fruits and vegetables are full of nutrients that support the immune system and can also be considered a main dish and not just a side dish.

“ The key is not to wait until you have a cold or feel exhausted to start adding these foods to your diet. These foods in a daily diet can help you stay more resilient throughout the year ,” adds the expert.

This food that you all have in your fridge protects against stress and depression

An American study reveals that the Lactobacillus bacteria, present in fermented foods such as yogurt, could positively influence our mental well-being. Conversely, a deficiency seems to worsen stress and mood disorders.

Much more than a simple player in digestion, the intestinal microbiota is emerging as an unexpected protagonist in the world of neuroscience. Recent studies suggest that the microorganisms that inhabit our gut could exert a significant influence on the functioning of our brain. One of the latest, published in Brain, Behavior, and Immunity , looked at the link between microbiota dysbiosis , stress and mood disorders .

Lactobacillus bacteria, present in yogurt, may improve mood

The researchers based themselves on an already known phenomenon: the fact that a disruption of the Lactobacillus bacteria in the intestine was frequently observed in patients suffering from stress or mood disorders.

The bacteria genus Lactobacillus is composed of Gram-positive organisms that are commonly associated with lactic acid fermentation, a biological process that converts sugars into lactic acid. In the context of human health, certain species of Lactobacillus are considered probiotics beneficial to the body. They are often present in fermented products such as yogurt , sauerkraut  or kefir . These lactic acid bacteria can contribute to the balance of intestinal flora by promoting the growth of beneficial microorganisms and inhibiting the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria.

“We knew from our previous research that Lactobacillus was beneficial in improving mood disorders and that it disappeared following psychological stress, but the underlying reasons remained unclear, mainly due to the challenges techniques associated with the study of the microbiota,” explains Alban Gaultier, MD at the University of Virginia and co-author of the study.

Lactobacillus deficiency worsens depression

To better understand the mechanism of action of lactobacilli, researchers studied these bacteria in mice colonized with “modified Schaedler flora” – a microbial community altered to eliminate the two indigenous species of Lactobacillus: L. intestinalis and L. . murinus. They then found that mice without Lactobacillus had elevated stress responses and attenuated IFNγ (interferon gamma) levels .

IFNγ, or interferon gamma, is a protein produced by the immune system in response to infections, promoting defense against pathogens. In addition to activating immune cells, it regulates the inflammatory response as well as the body's response to stress. “Lactobacilli maintain levels of an immune mediator called interferon gamma, which regulates the body's response to stress and helps prevent depression ,” a statement said. Furthermore, the transfer of the microbiome from stressed mice to germ-free recipients triggered depressive and anxious behaviors.

To summarize, a deficiency in lactobacillus could worsen depression and anxiety. A discovery which could allow the development of new treatments, based on supplementation with probiotics rich in Lactobacillus, for example. Until then, you can already benefit from the benefits of these good bacteria by tasting fermented foods ( yogurt , kefir, kimchi, etc.) – especially if you are at risk of depression.

The incredible benefits of ginger

 The incredible benefits of ginger

Add caption

Renowned for more than 5000 years in Ayurvedic Medicine and in ancestral culinary recipes, ginger has many benefits.

It is well known that nature is full of miracle ingredients for our beauty routine. Today, we are interested in the benefits of ginger, this rhizome that everyone is tearing up!

Is ginger effective in fighting colds, sore throats and fever?

Among the many virtues of ginger, we readily retain its anti-bacterial function which stimulates the immune system and "warms" the body. Ginger is also a good antipyretic, that is, it helps fight fever. When you feel a little feverish, grate the equivalent of a piece of ginger into small pieces, then pour hot water into a cup with a little honey and a slice of lemon. Leave to infuse for two minutes before drinking this hot whipping infusion.

What effect does ginger have on digestion?

The ginger rhizome has anti-inflammatory and antiemetic effects , which limit nausea and vomiting. No wonder pregnant women love it! Good to know: you can also use it after pregnancy to promote weight loss . For that, we say thank you to the manganese it contains, with the fat-burning effect.

Ginger, an anti-fatigue food

Did you know that ginger is one of the foods richest in antioxidants? Coupled with its many vitamins and trace elements , it is a formidably effective natural remedy against fatigue. And with the start of the school year, we really need it!

Ginger can treat many types of nausea, especially morning sickness

It seems that ginger is very effective against nausea.

For example, it has a long history of use as a remedy for seasickness and there is evidence that it could be very effective if prescribed by prescription.

Ginger may also be used to relieve nausea and vomiting after an operation and in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

However, it may be more effective for nausea caused by pregnancy, such as morning sickness.

According to research from 12 studies that included a total of 1,278 pregnant women, between 1.1 and 1.5 grams of ginger can significantly reduce symptoms of nausea.

Although, according to said study, it has no effect on vomiting.

Keep in mind that even though ginger is considered safe, you should speak to your doctor before taking large amounts if you are pregnant. Some specialists believe that eating too much ginger can increase the risk of miscarriage, but there are no studies to support this claim.

Ginger may reduce muscle pain and discomfort

Ginger has been shown to be effective against muscle pain caused by physical exercise.

In one study, participants consumed 2 grams of ginger per day for 11 days and significantly reduced muscle pain caused by elbow exercise.

Ginger doesn't have an immediate impact, but it could be effective in progressively reducing muscle pain on a day-to-day basis.

Anti-inflammatory effects can help in osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a very common health problem.

It involves degeneration of the joints in the body, leading to symptoms such as joint pain and stiffness.

In a controlled trial of 247 people with knee osteoarthritis, those who took ginger extract suffered less pain than those who took medication.

Another study found that a combination of ginger, mastic, cinnamon, and sesame oil can reduce pain and discomfort for osteoarthritis patients, but only if applied topically.

Ginger could drastically lower blood sugar levels and improve risk factors for heart disease

This area of research is relatively new, but it is believed that ginger may have great antidiabetic properties.

In 2015, a study of 41 participants with type 2 diabetes was carried out. They took 2 grams of ginger a day and decreased blood sugar levels rapidly by 12%.

It also dramatically improved the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test, a method of measuring blood sugar levels. They achieved a 10% reduction in a 12-week period.

There was also a 28% reduction in the levels of apolipoproteins B (apoB) and apolipoproteins A 1 (apoA 1), and a 23% decrease in markers for oxidized lipoproteins. The latter are the major risk factors for heart disease.

However, keep in mind that it is only a small study. The results are incredibly impressive, but need to be confirmed by further research before recommendations can be made.

Ginger may lower cholesterol levels

High levels of LDL lipoproteins (the bad cholesterol) are closely related to an increased risk of heart disease.

The food you eat can have a great influence on LDL levels.

In a study of 85 individuals for 45 days with high cholesterol, 3 grams of ginger caused large reductions in most of the indicators to measure cholesterol.

This theory is supported in a study with hypothyroid rats, in which ginger extract lowered LDL cholesterol to a similar extent to atorvastatin, a cholesterol-lowering drug.

Both studies also showed reductions in total cholesterol in blood triglycerides.

For those who are looking for a natural solution to help fight acne, the tomato is a good ally! Indeed, it contains many minerals as well as vitamins (C and A), with astringent properties . You can therefore use it pure, by placing thin slices on the small buttons, or as a cosmetic mask. We recommend that of the brand Yes To , sold at amazon , made from white charcoal and tomatoes. It clears impurities in half (but just after, remember to hydrate your skin well )!

The tomato to boost the radiance of the complexion

Like the carrot , the tomato is loaded with lycopene and beta-carotene , two antioxidants that help fight skin aging while giving the skin a beautiful natural tan. The tomato is also highly dosed in vitamin C, known for its lightening properties. No wonder the Garancia brand captured it in a healthy glow cream !

Good to know: how to open a can without a can opener

Life Tricks Good to know: how to open a can without a can opener

You never know when it is necessary to open a can without a can opener
Of course, the moments we could have to survive in nature are scarce. Very scarce. However, he could be camping or the tents are closed and the only thing he has in his closet are the cans, and his can opener broke. You never know! And when that happens, we have it covered with this trick on how to open a can without a can opener.

Time of need
It's like the trick that teaches you how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew: how big is the possibility that you really need it? But when you do it, it is very useful to know how to do it. And although opening a bottle of wine is never exactly a basic necessity, although some nights it seems it is, opening a can of food could save your life one day. Or at least that will save you from being hanged.

Life trick
Fortunately, the YouTuber ' The Crazy Russian Hacker ' has made a very instructive video in which it clearly explains how to open a can without a can opener. How to do it? You will need a rough but flat surface like concrete or a sidewalk. Turn the can and quickly rub it on the surface. Then turn it over and press the can from both sides. If you did it correctly, the lid will open suddenly. If not, try rubbing it again. You never know when you need this trick to save your life (or that of your cat).

How to relax: 18 techniques to relieve tension and stress

18 techniques to relieve tension and stress

Work, family and other concerns can make you enter a vicious cycle of stress. Before such a picture, you should not let it happen because this situation can lead you to have serious health problems both physically and emotionally. To calm anxiety, as well as to prevent it, it is essential that you learn to calm down. That is why we present several useful ways to relax .

18 ways to relax mentally and physically
Learning to relax is a very healthy way to help your body and mind relax. For this, you don't need long relaxation sessions. By implementing habits to your day to day you can help your body and your mind to calm down.

1. Analyze what causes you the burden
The first step in solving a problem is to become aware of it. Think if what makes you feel bad is important enough to steal your positive energy and peace. Keep in mind that there will always be a solution for everything. Also, as the American psychologist and writer Wayne Dyer said: "There is no stress in the world, only people creating stressful thoughts and then acting on them."

2. Reserve time for yourself
To know how to be accompanied, you must learn to be alone. Take your time to do your things without having to give accounts to anyone. Going alone to the cinema or taking a trip without anyone are activities that will allow you to be at peace.

3. Breathe
Breathing is an essential body function for us to live. But when talking about breathing to relax we mean that you have to stop a few minutes and concentrate on it. Make deep breaths and breaths through the nose. Before you start breathing like this, sit or lie down comfortably and close your eyes. You will see that after inhaling and exhaling like this for five minutes you start feeling better.

4. Leave the computer
Perhaps you have never stopped to think about this. However, being in front of the computer for many hours increases your stress level. Also, this activity increases the chances that you have problems with wakefulness, migraines or itchy eyes, among others.

To avoid this fatigue, reduce the hours you are in front of the screen. In the case that you work with this device, take small breaks every hour and do not take that time to look at the mobile or other electronic devices.

5. Walk
A daily walk of 30 minutes is very convenient to relax. Putting on quiet music while taking a walk will favor the fact that you disconnect.

6. Think things that relax you
Our mind is very powerful. That is why if you start to have calming thoughts you will get your body to relax through your words. Start using terms like "don't worry", "relax", "calm down" or "breathe" and you'll see the difference.

7. Dream Awake
In a time of stress, think of something that makes you abstract from the burden and calms you down. An example can be to imagine that you are in the countryside, on the beach or in any situation that produces tranquility.

8. Listen to music
Music helps us calm the mind. Therefore, it is recommended to listen to instrumental, classical or calm songs to release hormones that help us calm down. Try not to opt for topics that are very sad or very slow. As for the volume, it is better that it is not very high.

9. Do an activity that pleases you
To relax, read, cook, dance, swim, crochet, paint, draw, play an instrument or sing are some of the activities you can do. Choose that hobby that helps you disconnect and makes you feel good. Having your mind busy on something you like will make you have a different view of things and calm down.

10. Sleep properly
Sometimes, we subtract hours of sleep by trying to do as many activities as possible. However, rest is essential for your body to function properly. In fact, not sleeping the necessary hours can cause concentration problems, encourage you to eat more, be more upset and perform worse.

11. Get massages
Massages help calm muscle contractures and get away from the world for a while. It is always more advisable for a professional to do it because they are the ones who know how to perform them correctly without harming any part of the body.

12. Go to therapy
Talking with a psychologist will help you get everything you have inside that is hurting you mentally and physically. Therefore, do not hesitate to go to therapy with a specialist.

13. Eat healthy
It may seem unrelated, but eating in a balanced way also has a positive effect on relaxing.

14. Drink warm fluids
When we are nervous, many people recommend us to drink an infusion. These types of drinks benefit us from releasing tension and provide serenity. Keep in mind that those liquids that contain caffeine in the coffee are energizing and can activate and make us more nervous. Therefore, avoid them.

15. Take a relaxing bath
Like warm drinks, a warm bath allows you to calm down. If you wish, you can add some bath salts so that the effect is even greater.

16. Stay away from toxic people
The toxic people  you hurt a lot because you emotionally imbalanced. Therefore, once you learn to recognize them, stay as far away from them as possible.

17. Practice aromatherapy
The aromatherapy uses scents to soothe stress. Some of the perfumes included in this therapy are mint, eucalyptus and lavender.

A very useful technique is to get an aromatherapy oil and put a little on the temple, on the elbows and on the inside of the wrists with a circular massage. You can also place fragrances in your home to relax.

18. Spend time with animals
Being in contact with animals helps to reduce stress levels since touching your blood pressure can decrease.

Another technique that is also recommended to relax is animal-assisted psychotherapy. With their help, exercises are done to calm people's anxiety. It should be noted that horses are the animals that are most used for this purpose.

Activities such as meditation or yoga are also very good for relaxing. Remember that stress affects both your body and your mind . Therefore, follow these guidelines regularly to avoid the side effects that may result from anxiety.

The Importance of Healthy Foods

Have you ever wondered if nutrition and health are related? Do you think eating healthy is important? Of course! Just as a car needs fuel and constant maintenance to function properly, the human body requires food, exercise and a good mental attitude, to stay healthy and develop its full potential. Hence the importance of a good diet .

Food is necessary in all living beings , both in animals and in Human Beings, and that is why we must have a balanced incorporation of nutrients into our body, which is often referred to as Good Food, its compliance being fundamental for the development of life and different daily activities.

what is a good nutrition?

A good diet means that your body gets all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals it needs to work properly. To do this you must learn to plan your meals and snacks intelligently, so that they are rich in nutrients and low in calories.

It is usually justly linked to Good Nutrition with sports, to a life with exercises since Balanced Diets are usually adopted to be able to supplement these physical activities, while on the contrary the nutritional imbalances are usually related rather to a Sedentary Life and lacking physical exercise

Bad eating habits have contributed to the increase in obesity in the world. According to WHO, in 2014, more than 1.9 billion adults 18 years of age and older suffered from weight. Of them, more than 600 million were obese. Even for those with adequate weight, a nutrient-poor diet is associated with greater health risks, which can cause illness and even death.

Your decisions about what you eat affect your health and how you feel today, tomorrow and in the future.

healthy-cooking-food A balanced diet brings many benefits.

Many people think that eating healthy can only help reduce or maintain weight, but the benefits go beyond. Learning to properly balance our daily meals is necessary because:

• It gives us the vitality and energy necessary for life.

• It helps us maintain an adequate weight, according to age and height.

• Stimulates the immune system.

• Improves sports performance and in general, in any activity we do.

• Delay the aging process.

• It allows us to be active and fit during old age.

• Helps fight tiredness and fatigue.

• Protects teeth and keeps gums healthy.

• Improves the ability to concentrate and possible mood swings.

• Reduces the risk of serious diseases such as heart attacks, certain types of cancer, diabetes in adulthood and gallbladder diseases, among others.

The basics for healthy eating.

• Low in fat

The nutritionists agree that eating less saturated fat, in fried foods, butter, cream, margarine and oils is a way to make a healthy diet and lose weight. Reducing consumption is particularly important for the heart.

• Carbs and starches

We have forgotten how important rice, pasta, potatoes, bread and cereals are for our health. Previously it was believed that starch was harmful, but today it is known that it can become as important in a proper diet, such as fiber.

• High fiber content

Although sometimes we don't like it, fiber keeps our digestive system moving and helps lower cholesterol, prevent gallstones, bowel cancer and keep our weight under control. Fiber is found in cereals, in brown rice, barley, lentils, beans and vegetables.

• Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants

Vegetables, fruits and grains contain a lot of vitamins and minerals that work as antioxidants. Numerous studies show that people who eat a lot of legumes and fruits have lower rates of heart disease and cancer.

• Moderate sugar consumption

Sugar in modest amounts adds flavor and is a useful fuel for active people. However, consuming it in excess adds unwanted kilojules and can displace other more important foods. In chewable form, sugar can also cause tooth decay. .

• Little salt

The modern diet is loaded with salt and this is harmful to the heart. 75% of total salt intake comes from daily commercial foods; therefore it is imperative to buy products of reduced salt or without added salt.

By deciding to change habits and take steps to eat better, you will be providing your body with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy, active and strong. Making small modifications to your diet is simpler than you imagine. The important thing is always to document yourself properly and approach an expert to avoid decompensations that are worse in the long run.

What can I do to eat better?

  • Have breakfast every day.
  • Drink more water instead of soda or fruit juices that contain too much sugar. Try to drink at least 3 liters of water each day. Add a piece of lemon, lime or orange to give it more flavor.
  • Eat at regular times and avoid skipping meals or replacing a meal with a high-calorie and fat snack. If you are starving between meals, eat a healthy munch.
  • Keep snacks low in fat and calories in your home, work, or car to prevent hunger and avoid eating too much.
  • Eat a variety of fresh, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables of different colors every day. Vegetables of different colors provide different nutrients. Choose dark green leafy vegetables such as chard and spinach, and red and orange vegetables such as carrots, purple cabbage, red peppers and tomatoes. Sweet potatoes, strawberries, blackberries and papayas have a lot of flavor and provide many nutritious substances and few calories.
  • Choose whole or cut fruits more often instead of fruit juices. The juices have little or no fiber and add too much sugar.
  • Add vegetables to your favorite stews, sauces and soups.
  • Eat the foods you like but eat small amounts of foods with a lot of fat and calories, for example ice cream, and see how many times you eat them.
  • Read the "nutritional facts" on the labels to see the amount of fat and calories contained in the portion listed.
  • If you eat fast foods, try not to eat them every day and avoid eating large amounts of this type of food.
  • Many restaurants serve too much food. To control what you eat while enjoying, take some food home to eat the next day.
  • In addition to improving how and what you and your family eat, you can also make some small changes when cooking.

Tips for healthy cooking

  • Before cooking, always remove the skin from chicken and turkey, and cut the excess fat from the meat.
  • Try to make more soups, especially those with carrots, potatoes, red and black beans and other vegetables or legumes that you like.
  • Prepare your baked, grilled, grilled, or steamed chicken or fish dishes instead of frying them.
  • Use healthy oils such as olive or canola oil instead of butter or butter.
  • Use only the egg whites and not the whole egg when baking or making egg tortillas.
  • Cook and eat meals with less salt. Use low-salt broths or citrus juices to flavor foods.
  • Add herbs and spices to season your meals instead of using creamy, fatty, or salty sauces.
  • Chill the soups and sauces and with a spoon remove the fat that forms on the surface before reheating or eating them.
  • Use a "spray" or vegetable spray to saute and bake, to prevent cakes from sticking to the molds.
  • When your food is cold, dry it with paper towels to remove excess fat, before serving.
  • Quick breakfast ideas
  • Low-fat yogurt with fresh fruits like strawberries.
  • Fresh or canned fruits (in its own juice).
  • Ideas for low-fat snacks
  • Whole wheat toast and low fat or skim milk.
  • Cereals with low sugar and not covered with sugar.
  • Smoothies made with fresh or frozen fruits and with mint or other herbs that you like.

Get that gorgeous golden glow, whatever the season

Nothing says health, wealth, and happiness like a gorgeous tan – and you don’t have to be cruising the Riviera in your private yacht in order to get one! From rocking gorgeous sundresses in summer to looking healthy despite the winter gloom, a suntan is always in season; and as a bonus, it will hide any blemishes, smooth out the complexion and make you look slimmer. Fortunately there are lots of ways to get yourself that gorgeous glow, to suit every budget and schedule.

Natural Sun

sun tanning

A natural suntan can be truly beautiful, especially if you get it at the seaside or by a pool, as water makes the tan darker, and that much more even. Being out in the sun also provides your body with much needed vitamin D, for healthy bones, nerves and muscles, and fresh air. This kind of tan also lasts a lot longer than the spray and cream versions. But remember that natural sun is only good in moderation! It’s important to tan gradually, so if you’re in a really hot climate, avoid being in direct sunlight at mid-day. If you try to go from Snow White to Grecian goddess in one day, you’re going to end up with a very painful sunburn instead: and not only is it unsightly, but regularly burned skin can develop age spots and there is even the chance of skin cancer for those with genetic predispositions.

Spray tanning

Spray tanning

If you don’t like sitting out in the sun, or if you’re in the middle of winter with hardly any sunshine in sight for months on end, there’s always the spray-tan option. For this, you can pick which ever shade suits you best and then head over to the nearest salon for a professional spray tan, or try a tanning spray or cream at home. This method just adds a tint to your skin, so you don’t have to worry about sun burn, age-spots or cancer.

Bear in mind that this kind of tan tends to come off a lot sooner than a natural tan, and the cream can leave dark marks on your bedding and clothes. Also, you have to be careful during the application process, because if not applied correctly, you’ll be left with noticeable, uneven streaks across your skin.

Don’t forget to check how long the spray you use take to dry – some can stay sticky for several hours afterwards.

Melanotan tablets

Melanotan is a synthetic hormone that darkens your complexion by stimulating your natural melatonin. It a good option for a smudge-free, long lasting tan without having to expose your skin to the harsh rays of the sun. These tables are also a lot more affordable than regular salon appointments or messy bottles of tanning creams. The results take a few days to show, but soon your skin will begin to develop the desired golden glow. It is also a great way to prevent sunburn if you’re planning to head out to the beach, as it darkens your skin in advance. However, make sure you’re taking the real thing. Real, quality tanning tablets will leave you beautifully bronzed – others may leave you looking orange instead.

Salon sunbeds

tanning beds

Tanning salons, and beauty salons offering tanning services, are easy to find and widely available, with a broad price-range of services, so you don’t have to buy a plane ticket to get a few rays in the winter gloom. They are quick and convenient – and you can even get your nails done, while you’re there.

Though there is still the risk of skin spots and cancer associated with natural tanning, recent advances in technology mean that tanning beds work a lot faster than natural sunlight. Less time spent exposed to direct rays means reduced chance of sunburn, blemishes or cancer.

Sun beds: standing up

Standing booths are usually roomier than lying down ones, which means that you can move around, and expose different tricky areas of skin as you would naturally in the sun, allowing for a more even and authentic tan. These also usually work a bit faster than lying down booths, as the bulbs tend to be stronger, which is great when you’re in a hurry, or if you just want to limit exposure to the light.

Sun beds: lying down

On the other hand, lying down in a tanning bed is much more relaxing, and you still get tanned in a relatively short time. But remember to change your position periodically, as lying in the same position can result in tan creases or missed tricky areas, e.g. under the arms.

Which ever way you choose to tan, remember that moderation is the key to turning heads with your lasting, natural bronzed glow.

How To Apply Fake Tan? How to Apply Self Tanner

How To Apply Fake Tan? How to Apply Self Tanner

We live in a day and age where people understand the dangers of being in the sun for too long. If you go out tanning every day for the majority of your life, you may not only have brown, wrinkly skin but may also develop serious forms of cancer. However, you can still get the golden radiance  if you go with other options. For example, if you want to look tan in a secure manner, you absolutely  need to consider using self-tanners or airbrush tanning. This way, you can look nice and tan without having to go through the health consequences or have to take hours out of your day to do this. However, you need to take your time when it comes to cover fake tan products. Otherwise, your tan could end up looking streaky, too orange, or even too fake. The following includes some basic knowledge about how to apply fake tan products so that your tan looks natural.

How To Apply Fake Tan? How to Apply Self Tanner

Exfoliate and Moisturize

If you want to use apply fake tan products and have the best possible tan, you need to first prep your skin so that it is ready for self-tanners. Thus, the first thing to do is to exfoliate your body. You should exfoliate regularly  for at least two weeks so that your face and body are soft and clean. Every time you exfoliate, you should then follow this by moisturizing your skin with a high quality lotion. This will adapt your skin so that you can apply self tan products.

Face Skin Care

The next step when it comes time to apply tan product is to make sure your skin is dry. Put on some gloves and then rub little amounts of sunless tanner on the face and body. If you use slight amounts of the product, you can keep yourself from ending up with streaks or patchy  marks on the body. Wearing gloves safeguard your hands from being stained with the self-tanner. You should apply fake tan products daily to prevent fading and streaking. If you end up with an area of skin that is more dark, you can always use lemons or toothpaste to remove some of the tanner or to lighten the area. If you  find a missing spot on your legs or face, a spray-on tanner can definitely fill in the gaps. Once accomplished  applying the tanner, let your skin dry before you put on clothes or do something like go swimming. This way, you can be sure you won’t spoil your clothing or have to deal with streaking.
