The device allows users sketch in three dimensions, using strands of molten plastic that hardens in contact with air. Now, the company has announced an updated version. The 3Doodler is said to be thinner, lighter, quieter and easier to use. Accomplished users have created all sorts of things, from remote control aircraft to the dresses, but we could not create anything beyond rudimentary forms. Although it was fun to use, it was clear that a good amount of time spent practicing with him would be required to create anything remotely impressive. 3Doodler the promise of being easier to use will, therefore, be good news for newbies like us.
WobbleWorks says the device is now more like the shape and size of a pen, which will immediately more comfortable to use. The dispatch system that feeds plastic through the pen has been restructured to make the experience smoother, and double-click function has been added that allows users to doodle without having to hold down any button. The speed at which the plastic is fed through the pen can now be altered to suit the user's preference, and it is also possible to adjust the temperature to change the flow of plastic. The redesigned shape of the pen and the new nozzle design, meanwhile, is said to improve performance and allows users to be more precise in their scribbles.
Beyond major usability improvements, energy use of the new device has been drastically reduced. Heating the plastic is said to be more efficient and stable, reducing the need to stop and start during use, and the system air flow has been improved apparently also in order to cool the plastic more efficiently and operate quietly.
A number of extras have been announced along with the 3Doodler. The DoodleStand gives users a place to store your pen and plastic strips, while a set of six interchangeable nozzles and smoothing tool are available to help users create more refined doodles. A battery pack is now also available for scribbling on the road, and you can buy a pedal to control the device.
